Mayweather on Pacquiao. The world-renowned and now retired boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr., has some words about the Filipino boxing champion Manny Pacquiao as well as HBO and its announcers. According to him, HBO is great but criticized its announcers as being racists.

Mayweather called it quits after the close of a remarkable 18-months stretch, during which he beat famous boxers like Oscar dela Hoya and Ricky Hatton in fights that made more than $50 million in the boxing ring. "They talk about Kelly Palvik, a white fighter, like he is the second coming, or they go crazy over Manny Pacquiao. But I am black. Is it racial? Absolutely. They praise white fighters; they praise Hispanic fighters, whatever. But black fighters, they never praise. I’ve noticed for a long time now but I couldn’t say anything because I had to do business with them. I’ll still do business with them, but I’m done holding my tongue.”

A lot of experts say that Manny Pacquiao would bring a good fight with Mayweather, but Pacquiao has made no comments about this. The Pacman is set to finalize his deal with Edwin Valero, within the next two weeks when Valero comes to Las Vegas.

Edwin Valero has an unbeaten record in more than 20 fights and with the majority of the knockouts happening during the first round. Valero will be in Las Vegas to watch the Cotto-Margarito fight, and see his protégés Bernabe Concepcion and Vernie Torres in the undercard game.

In other boxing news: Ray “Boom Boom” Bautista will return to the ring when he co-headlines the huge August 30 card at the Waterfront Hotel in Cebu City. Bautista will be boxing against Mexico’s Eden “Anestecita” Marquez.

Meanwhile, Antonio Barrera plans to call it quits with the Golden Boy Promotions very soon. According to sources, Barrera has been very unhappy since losing to our very own Manny Pacquiao, and the fact that he has not been given a fight since then. Barrera also spoke to Pacman on the phone to discuss the possibility of doing a co-promotion with the MP Promotion of fitting Mexican boxers with Filipino boxers. He wanted to do it in the Philippines since it will be easier for Barrera’s boxers to get Philippines visas than US visas. Barrera also requested an appointment to meet with Pacquiao when the latter comes to Las Vegas to finalize his deal with Edwin Valero.
